4-H Electric

Jasper County REMC is a long-time supporter of 4-H programs in our community, especially 4-H Electric/Electronics programs.

Each year, we coordinate two 4-H Electric/Electronics workshops for students in all divisions. At the first workshop, our linemen and other REMC employees teach the students to strip wire, solder, and review the different parts included in the projects. The second workshop helps the students finish up their projects and even offers a “mock judging” of the finished projects. The students and parents enjoy the learning experience and it’s not unusual to see them all come back year after year.

The 4-H Electric/Electronics program provides youth with educational information about electricity and how it can be used to benefit the human race. The Electric/Electronics program develops project skills (i.e., safe practices, proper use of fuses and circuit breakers, proper lighting techniques, proper wiring techniques) and life skills (i.e., decision-making, using science and technology, developing communication skills). These are fun-filled, hands-on learning experiences that encourage interest in innovation and the sciences.

Division 1 – Circuit Board
Division 2 – Magnetic Shake Light
Division 3 – Extension Cord or Trouble Light
Advanced – Self-chosen Projects
